The Band Toto Asia
Toto expanded its production facilities overseas, and doing business in France and Germany, Indonesia, Korea and Taiwan, Thailand and the People's Republic of China. North America was seen as a market that would grow for toilets and bidet seats, in contrast to its "base" markets in Japan and China.
Dhaniram Toto was recording Toto words to ensure that the next generation could read the words. However, many of the words were being replaced with foreign ones, such as dui, which is Bengali for verandah.
Origins
Established in 1917, Toto's beginnings mirrored Japan's growth. In the first half of its existence, the company manufactured products to meet the demand for new, modern urban housing. It was the first tunnel kiln in the country to continuously produce ceramics. It also pioneered automation for production control, allowing greater efficiency and consistency.
In the late 1980s, the company began to expand outwards to profit from sales and new markets. The company established the Cera Trading Company to import and distribute other products of other manufacturers to complement its own range of sanitary earthenwares and plumbing fittings. This strategy helped increase sales and expand the market share of the company globally.
In the 1990s, Toto had shifted its focus on research and development for water-related household appliances. It also upgraded its distribution system to better meet the needs of customers and increase profits. The company also employed the approach of just-in-time in its supply chain management and sales program. This led to a higher degree of customer satisfaction.
Toto has been able to continue to innovate with regard to toilet technology. The latest toilet from the company features an environmentally friendly, powerful tornado flush. The company uses recycled water in its manufacturing process, and has a green buying policy. Apart from toilets, Toto produces bathtubs and faucets and hand dryers that are more efficient in energy use than conventional models.
The company's first museum opened in 2015, and it has exhibitions on Toto's seminal products and their development, its group companies (all related to ceramics), history of plumbing and products such as bath units and, in a different gallery, Toto products sold around the world. The museum houses bathrooms with a WASHLET and other toilet innovations.
Before the formation of Toto, members of the band did session work for many musicians. Keyboardist David Paich, drummer Jeff Porcaro, and guitarists Mike Porcaro and Steve Lukather all performed on the album Silk Degrees by Boz Scaggs. They also played on records by Steely Dan, Seals and Crofts, and Sonny and Cher.
Discography
With a name like Asia you'd expect the group to be prog kings and queens - but it's actually a fairly straightforward rock band. The band began as a four-piece and released two albums: 1979's self-titled debut and 1980's Armed to the Teeth. However, even though the group have a variety of musical backgrounds their biggest breakthrough was in 1982 with Toto IV.
The album was a massive blockbuster but not without its issues. Record companies put the band on place with the directive "give us an album that's a smash or we'll drop you" and the pressure was on them to meet the deadline. Toto was able to achieve this feat with the help of the smash hit "Africa."
Toto's musical mastery is the result of their previous experiences. Before forming the group, the members worked as session musicians for artists such as Boz Scaggs. Steely Dan and Seals and Crofts. Their distinctive sound has since become the standard for '80s pop, influencing many contemporary artists.
The album begins with a hefty dose of hard rock with songs like Running Out of Time and Unknown Soldier showcasing the bands ability to write great AOR songs that slowly work their hooks into your mind. The album also features jazzier, slower tracks like The Little Things and Chinatown. And the album ends with Great Expectations, a song that combines folk with distortion AOR and should sound completely wrong, but actually is incredibly effective.
After Toto IV the band's fortunes began to wane. 토토사이트 순위 left the band to focus on his solo career and the band was dominated by drummers. In 1984, Bobby Kimball was fired from the band in the after he was charged with drug abuse. the band continued as a trio with Michael Porcaro and Steve Lukather.
Despite the chaos, Toto forged ahead and released Isolation, which was not as successful as IV. The group managed to release a chart-topping album, Kingdom of Desire, in 1992. This album marked the conclusion of the original Toto lineup and was the first album featuring a new singer, Simon Phillips.

Line-up
The band's third album, Turn Back, marked an reversion to the classic sextet style of previous albums and was a more ferocious, consistent effort that had a harder edge than Hydra. Its edgier sound was indicative of the maturation of group and included drummer Bobby Kimball's improved proficiency on the drums, as well as an improved, mature vocal delivery by singer Joseph Williams. Keyboardist David Paich's work was more precise, sharper, and less derivative than previously recorded performances.
After touring to promote the album, the band recorded a live performance in Amsterdam which was released as a two-CD set called Falling In Between Live on Eagle Records. The group released a brand new studio album just a few months after and then embarked on a world tour promote the album. In this time, keyboardist Greg Phillinganes replaced Paich and bassist David Hungate quit the group to spend time with his family.
In 1998, Paich and Lukather started exploring old demos and tapes in search of a new album featuring songs that were never recorded before. The album was released in 2001 as a double album called Then and Now. It was the first album in the band's history that did not include one single track with the word "A" in its title. It also included one previously not released track, "Kari-Anne".
By 2003, Toto had begun to decline in popularity. The group's fourth album, Old Is New, was a commercial failure, and singer Williams was suffering from a severe laryngitis infection that limited his singing abilities. In addition, Hungate returned to Nashville as a drummer, and Leland Sklar was replaced by Shem von Schroeck.
Downes along with the other members of Asia--Wetton, Palmer, and Howe--convened a meeting in England in the early part of 2006 to discuss the possibility of formally reforming the band. The lineup, which was minus Howe (who was working with Yes at the time) was later referred to as Toto XIV and toured extensively.
In 2010, the band reunited for another reunion tour with a slightly different line-up, including guitarists Mike Porcaro and Steve Lukather, drummer John Pierce, bassist Shannon Forrest, and multi-instrumentalists Warren Ham and Dominique Taplin. The band featured an appearance by singer Michael McDonald and a backing vocalist named Mabvuto Carver.
